Thunder

from Rainmaker by Lorenzo Miniero

/

about

Another song that was heavily inspired by Queensryche: I think this is probably the most 80's song of the bunch, and would have probably been right at home in the "Call of the 80's" EP!

I experimented a bit here too, though, as for the refrain I knew I wanted a stadium-like kind of choir singing the words: it took a while to get something decent out of it, so I'll wait for you to tell me if that worked or not...

lyrics

The clock strikes a twelfth time
It finally is midnight
So many hours since mom sang me her lullaby
The sky a leaden shroud
When will it open wide?
A blanket as my shield against the threat outside

What is it that I fear?
Should it be over now?
I'm all alone in here
It's not a when, it's how

The storm has all but died
Thick darkness as my hide
I bite my lips, I know they'd hear me if I cried
A sudden light appears
I see it fill my room
I tremble waiting for the now impending doom

Where there was dark, now light
Nowhere to hide, too bright
My nightmare rules again
Here comes that awful scream

Lightning strikes
Thunder right behind
Lightning strikes
Thunder right behind

I'm getting older but, unlike whisky, I'm not getting any better. So, besides developing open source software for a living, I've decided to go back to an old passion of mine: writing and recording music.
