Rainmaker

about

As anticipated, this was conceived as the album "epic", and as an unofficial sequel to the song by Kansas, where I pictured the "Rainmaker" character of that song getting a second chance to help people.

Musically it's a mix of orchestral music and metal, where the middle part in particular is quite heavy and very inspired by (or derivative of?) Dream Theater, hopefully not to the point of plagiarism. It's not as complex as "Delusion's Master" was in the previous album, but nevertheless it's still the most complex in the album, and I'm quite proud of it. For those familiar with the original Kansas song, there are a couple of "easter eggs" in there, both in lyrics and music.

lyrics

No rain has fallen for so long
The crops are dry, our spirits so forlorn
Who knows how long we will endure
Please God send us a cure
I know of someone who could help
From town to town they went, and rain with them
They'd light a fire and start a dance
And all the pain they'd end

Time finally gave me another chance
That one horse town still haunts my days and nights
This time I will not stop too late
No blood on me again
They look at me like I'm a Saint
Their prayers all for that clear sky to break
I start to dance my heart away
Thunder responds to me

I'm getting older but, unlike whisky, I'm not getting any better. So, besides developing open source software for a living, I've decided to go back to an old passion of mine: writing and recording music.
