In a Reverie

from Rainmaker by Lorenzo Miniero

/

about

This song is very unusual as well, coming from me, as it's basically a folk song, and an almost uplifting one at that (and that's VERY unusual!).

I do hear some Blackfield and Mystery influences here and there (which makes sense, as for some time I listened to both a lot), especially in how the song changes at a certain point.

lyrics

I look at the sky, gray as it is
I think of the blue that's behind
I look at the clouds, heavy as they are
The rain that they pour down is life
I look at the trees, tall as they are
Their roots are what keeps them so strong
I look at the stars, far as they are
They point to the place I call home

Are all these feelings real?
Am I lost in myself?
Is it always like this?
Or just when I close my eyes?

I look at the sea, wide as it is
It hides even more than it shows
I look at the plains, green as they are
They're home to so many small worlds
I look at the hills, big as they are
There's not one that we cannot climb
I look at the crows, black as they are
We're never alone when they cry

Where do these thoughts come from?
Are they answers to what?
Will I finally realize
What happens when my mind flies?

Wandering in my own mind
I forget where I'm at or why
Letting my thoughts flow by
I find rest
We're not what we lost
Far from what I miss
Lost in a reverie
