about

The heaviest song in the album, and originally inspired by Iced Earth in tone and style, even though it may have turned more Iron Maiden-y in parts. I conceived this as a regular "song" (the refrain "voice" was played by a synth), but published it as an instrumental when I shared a first version: I only wrote and recorded the lyrics after that, imagining it as the tale of a man who lost his memory and is fighing with voices he hears in his head.

lyrics

My mind is blank, there is just fear
I don't remember coming here
No need to fight, no need for pain
Our voices are with you again
I know I have been here before
But when that was, I am not sure
It doesn't matter, just give up
You are alone

Am I just talking to myself
Or is there really someone else
Our voice, your own, why do you care
It will not tell you who you were
I feel like I'm losing control
My memories empty, my fear full
Stop struggling for a reason why
You won't find one

You lost your mind
There's no way out

The mirror shows me an unknown face
My hands explore its fearful gaze
How weak, how pityful those eyes
Come back to us and claim your prize
My mind is split, my will is torn
I feel like I was just now born
Your past is gone, why dig it up
The future calls

Pain, fear, loss, doom
All weighing on you

Broken and in anguish
I know there's things to be found
Looking for my sanity
In a past now long gone
Fragments of my memories
Scattered over the ground
Pieces of a puzzle that
I may never solve again

Despair is finally kicking in
No more strength to draw from within
That you don't need, we're here for you
Embrace our will, don't be a fool
This chapter cannot be the last
I still don't know about my past
Just close the book, put it away
A life long gone

End, ruin, rage, death
Just feel your wrath

Broken and in anguish
I know there's things to be found
Looking for my sanity
In a past now long gone
Fragments of my memories
Scattered over the ground
Pieces of a puzzle that
I may never solve again
Broken and in anguish
I know there's things to be found
Looking for my sanity
In a past now long gone
Fragments of my memories
Scattered over the ground
Pieces of a puzzle that
I may never solve again

Broken and in anguish
I know there's things to be found
Looking for my sanity
In a past now long gone
Fragments of my memories
Scattered over the ground
Pieces of a puzzle that
I may never solve again

about

Lorenzo Miniero Naples, Italy

I'm getting older but, unlike whisky, I'm not getting any better. So, besides developing open source software for a living, I've decided to go back to an old passion of mine: writing and recording music.
